HÄUTEN (MOULT)
A Tribute to Ovida Delect und Karl Pärsimägi
Karl Pärsimägi (1902-1942)
Reinterpreting biological phenomena by which some parasites change their identity by swapping their outer layer in a moult-like process, the performance stages a live moulting to retrace the history of Ovida Delect and Karl Pärsimägi: two queer resistance fighters who joined the French Resistance at different times during the Second World War and were deported to German concentration camps -with differing outcomes. Whilst Delect embodied the possibility of a belated yet complete transformation, Pärsimägi’s violently cut-short life story points to those metamorphoses that could never be completed.
Who were Ovida Delect and Karl Pärsimägi and what do they have in common with parasites?

Ovida Delect (1926-1996)
Drawing on the historical and contemporary use of the term ‘parasite’ as an instrument of dehumanisation employed by Nazis and TERFs to legitimise the persecution and discrimination of minorities, “Moult” reclaims the figure of the parasite and explores the parallels between parasitic adaptation and survival mechanisms and the strategies queer people employ to resist in hostile environments.
